AccuQuilt GO Baby!
Last June, I discovered a wonderful little machine that enable us to cut all sort of shapes (almost all sort) with 90% more accuracy than any rotary cutter or scissors and its safer! Its name: AccuQuilt GO Baby.
The headquarters of the company are in Omaha and the IQSC and Museum where I was attending a board meeting being in Lincoln, 45mn driving from Lincoln, I decided to pay them a visit. Linda Pumphrey and Lee Nakamoto were my guides and they introduced me to the rest of the staff: this is how I discovered that all the employees need to know how to quilt and if this is not the case when they are hired, they must acquire at least the basic techniques in order to better understand quilters’ needs.
Then I tried the Go Baby: fascinating! In no time, I cut up to six fabrics at a time - triangles, squares, hearts, and flowers, depending on the die I chose. Triangles had the “dog ears” trimmed based on a 1/4" presser foot making assembling so easy, a real dream! All the other shapes include also the 1/4", seam allowance. Round shapes are so accurate that they can be machine appliqué like a real professional, even without being one….
Thanks to all the existing dies, it is very easy to plan a sampler quilt or a bed spread with the same bloc in different colours. Accuracy yes, but also safety – no injuries as the blades are covered by a foam. Place the die on the machine, foam side up, then place the fabric and protect it with a thick mat; when turning the handle, the die moves through the machine and the blades cut the fabric! It is magic, I can assure you…

This product is now available in Europe and is worth trying it whenever you have the opportunity. Dies can be purchased separately one at a time if you prefer. Easy to use also by shops or by those who intend to prepare kits, this is THE ideal little machine. When not in use, you just close it and store it anywhere.
