Katie Pasquini Masopust

Katie Pasquini Masopust lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is a renowned artist worldwide.
If you don’t know her, here is a good opportunity to discover how wonderful and talented she is.
Katie was invited last year to teach during the European Patchwork Meeting and also to be the “Master” of a four day class after the Meeting.
She is a wonderful teacher who loves to inspire her students; she is also very happy to follow their work after the seminar is over. All last year’s master class participants were so lucky to be followed in their progress by Katie who never hesitated to congratulate or to nicely criticize somebody’s work. She was so proud that most of her students sent a quilt to be shown at the 2011 EPM!
This year she was invited to exhibit in Ste Marie aux Mines in Alsace, France. She worked very hard and brought a lot of brand new pieces that have never been seen anywhere else before. She also taught a 2 day class before the EPM and a different master class than the 2010 one after.
Katie is a self taught artist. She started painting and drawing very young. Her parents always encouraged her and her 6 brothers and sisters to do want they wanted most. Katie took many art classes in her youth and has always been creating in one form or the other. Besides, she also learnt how to sew and was sewing her dolls clothes, later her own. In high school she was attracted by art courses. She was the set designer for most of her class productions, painting huge sets and loving it!
Later she become attracted by quilts and made a lot of traditional ones until she met Michael James who suggested her to use her art experience in designing and creating art quilts.
This was a complete turning point in her life. Before starting she took some art classes for inspiration. As she loves to paint, she started making unique quilts inspired by her paintings.
Katie teaches for many years now, all around the United States but also worldwide and is very popular as well in Europe as in Japan! We heard that despite the general demand, she will skip next European Patchwork Meeting, but “my little finger says” that she will certainly come back to us soon. www.katiepm.com
She is also the master of ceremony of Alegre Retreat that she founded when she moved to Santa Fe from California. Katie invites every year top art quilt teachers who can teach for 2, 3 or 5 days.
